Obituary for Arthur Herbert

J. Arthur Herbert, age 87, passed away peacefully Sunday Oct 5th, 2014 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
He was a long term resident of Lake Carmel, NY for 30 years.
He was predeceased in death by his beloved wife Betty of 46 years.
He is survived by his children, (William & Elaine Herbert of Wichita, Kansas, John &Charmaine Herbert of Grafton, Wisconsin, Donald and Clare Herbert of Highland, New York and Mary Herbert of Charlotte, North Carolina), 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Arthur was born in Cambridge, MA and grew up with his brothers Roger, Joe, Stan and Dan in Brooklyn, NY.
Arthur served in the army during WWII as part of the Asia-Pacific Campaign.
He was an Electronic ServiceTechnician for 45 years with TRW Company.
He enjoyed traveling to Newfoundland, Canada with his wife to visit family.
Arthur was an active member of the Lake Carmelcommunity, St. James the Apostle Church, the Knights of Columbus Our Lady of Lakes Council #6318, and he enjoyed being a part of the KofC Bowling League for many years.
Arthur is an honorary lifetime member of the Knights, serving as Grand Knight (1988-1990), Youth Chairman for the Squires, Columbiettes Liaison, Putnam-Westchester District Deputy, and several New York State Council Chairs.
He will be dearly missed by his children, brothers, wife’s family, and extended family and friends.
