Florina Zuccarelli Nudo passed away at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, NY on April 6, 2023 at the age of 91. She was loved by her family and many lifelong friends. Florina was predeceased by her husband Giuseppe “Peppino” who passed away in 2005. She is survived by her son Raffaele (Peggy) and daughter Natalina Bernadette; grandchildren Joseph William, (Nicole), Christine Marie, Adriana Julia and Daniela Florina; great grandchildren Brianna, Joseph, Angelina and Giancarlo; her siblings Fiore Zuccarelli (deceased), Vincent Zuccarelli (deceased), Lucia Zuccarelli (deceased) Laura Sacco (deceased), Rosa Servideo (deceased), Silvio Zuccarelli (deceased) and Ralph Zuccarelli of West Palm Beach, FL and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Florina was born on October 7, 1931, in Mongrassano, Calabria, Italy to the late Mario and Olimpia (Licursi) Zuccarelli. She endured the effects of World War II on her small town in Italy and married Peppino in 1955. She came to New York in 1959 and worked as a professional seamstress for many years specializing in upholstery and formal wear.
In 2003 she and Peppino relocated to Carmel, NY to live with her son Raffaele and his family. Florina was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a mother-in-law, an aunt, a grandmother, a great grandmother and a godmother. She loved her family above all and was one of the most selfless people you could ever know, always putting others’ needs ahead of her own.
So many memories may have faded for her over the years but there’s one thing she never forgot. “Hey Nonna… I got an idea… Let’s go to the beach!” We’ll meet you there dear Nonna.
