For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Giovanni “John” Ricci, of Harrison, New York passed away peacefully on Friday,
February 10, 2023.

The story of Giovanni began on a beautiful day, June 22nd,1937, in Foiano de Val Fortore, Benevento, Italy, Giuseppe and Rosaria Ricci welcomed their only child, Giovanni, into the world. Giovanni and his best friend, Carmine Mansollino, grew up together in their quaint Italian town. They were inseparable; sharing childhood secrets, thick as thieves, and devoted to each other through thick and thin. They were “brothers” whose love and devotion lasted a lifetime until Carmine’s passing in January,2020. Giovanni was Godfather to Lucia Mansollino and Antonio Mansollino, two of Carmine and (his loving, beautiful wife), Annunziata’s children.

In December of 1965, Giovanni was finally able to come to the United States and be reunited with his beautiful bride, Yolanda. Joseph, Giovanni and Yolanda’s first child, was born on September 15th, 1966. Four years later, Anthony was born on November 15th, 1970. Giovanni and his young family lived in New Rochelle, NY, where Giovanni worked for the city of New Rochelle. In 1971, Giovanni “achieved the American Dream” and purchased his first house in Yonkers, NY. For a short period of time, the family relocated to Pittsburgh, PA where Giovanni’s cousins; Gino Ricci, Dominic, Franco, Tony, and John DeMarco, had settled in the United States. Giovanni was in the construction business while in Pittsburgh. Yolanda gave birth to sweet baby Mary in early 1973, who passed away just three days later.
Faith. Strength. Family. Love.

Giovanni moved the family back to New Rochelle temporarily, returned to work for the City of New Rochelle, then purchased his “home” in Harrison, NY in 1974. From1982 to 1989, Giovanni was the proprietor of Ricci’s Pizzeria, in Harrison, NY. 1989-1992, Ricci’s Pizzeria was established in New Rochelle. In 1992, Giovanni decided to open a coffee shop in Harrison, aptly named John’s Place, which he owned until 1998. Giovanni spent fifteen years working at The Atria and finally retired at 80 years old.

Dad, Spouso, John, Giovanni, Suocero, Mr. John, Compare, Uncle John, and Friend. Giovanni loved his home-made wine, New York Yankees, and HIS Italian Soccer. Above all, John loved his faith, family, and community. He was a parishioner of St. Gregory The Great Church in Harrison, NY.

Giovanni is survived by his sons: Joseph and his wife, Linda, residing in Scarsdale, NY, and Anthony of Oregon. He is also survived by his granddaughter Elizabeth Ricci, who lives in Florida. His sister-in-law, Flavia Fiorilli and cousin Antoinette Martucci Ricci were truly Giovanni’s advisers and confidantes. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews in the United States, Italy, and England.
He is predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe and Rosaria Ricci, loving wife, Yolanda, precious daughter Mary, cousin Franco DeMarco, brother-in-law Guido, sisters-in-law Ersilia Fiorilli Agostinelli and Gisella Brita (wife of brother-in-law Antonio Fiorilli), nephew Franco Cocucci, and “brother” Carmine Mansollino.

The family of Giovanni Ricci would like to thank all the wonderful doctors, surgeons, and nurses who took care of Giovanni over the past three years. In addition, we would like to thank Giovanni’s home health care team; Paulette and Marcela, who cared for Mr. John.

“Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.” Matthew 5:3-12
Rest in peace Dad (Suocero).
