Obituary for Josephine Loguidice (Grasso)
On Tuesday, October 13, 2020, Josephine Loguidice (Grasso), loving wife, and proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren, passed away at the age of 90 surrounded by family and friends.
Josephine was born on August 11, 1930 in Yonkers, NY and was currently a resident of Harrison, NY. In her early years she worked as a seamstress and in her later years she worked at the Herald Statemen in the circulation department. However, Josephine’s role as a dedicated wife and mother to her four children was the most important to her.
Josephine’s seamstress skills were put to use once again as a designer of costumes for her children’s school plays at St. Joseph Elementary School and in designing Barbie dolls costumes for her daughter.
Josephine was an artist contributor in her high school yearbook and enjoyed sketching with her grandchildren. Their favorite, “The Glamorous Smoking Lady”. Her grandchildren gave her much joy and she would attend every event, from school plays, football games, Grandparents Day, graduations, etc., eager to exercise every bragging right allotted to a grandparent.
Josephine was a people person who could always make you laugh. She was blessed with the gift of making friends. She was known for her warm and welcoming personality and an unselfish nature that was evident up to her last days.
Holidays will always have her loving presence and traditions, right down to the Thanksgiving ham.
Josephine will be greatly missed.
Josephine is predeceased by her husband Dominic Loguidice, whom she was married to for 66 years. She is survived by her four children: Vito Loguidice, M.D. (Patricia), Caroline Antonucci (Robert), Dominic Loguidice (Anna), and Ralph Loguidice (Shelley); three siblings: Clara Gardner, Lucy Flynn, and Salvatore Grasso (Regina); 16 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made in Josephine’s honor to The American Kidney Fund.
