Obituary

On September 8, 2020 Albert (Al) DeAngelis left us to hold hands with his beloved wife Ann (Spinuzza) in Heaven. She was the light of his life for 61 yrs. He was 91.
Al was born in the Bronx to Joseph and Anna (Cappelli) in 1929 and is survived by his sister Doreen (Keller) and predeceased by his brother Frank. He will be greatly missed by his daughters Donna (Gentile) , Carol (Sawitz) and son in-law Michael; and son James and daughter-in law Sharon. Al was blessed with 6 grandchildren; Leanne, Jessica and Paul Gentile; Kimberly (Sawitz) Schuldt , Dana (Sawitz) Dyer and Janelle DeAngelis. Additionally he had the chance to enjoy time with his 4 great-grandchildren; Lincoln and Amelia Schuldt, and Emmeline and Elijah Dyer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Al was a devoted husband and father. He was raised in the Bronx where he met and then married Ann in 1954. They lived in the Bronx for several years before moving to Harrison in 1965. He worked many years as an accountant and retired from Industrial Acoustic Company of the Bronx. Al was a long-time member and treasurer of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed bowling, coin collecting and of course an occasional trip to the casinos but most of all spending time with his family. Annual family vacations to the Jersey shore created many happy memories.
Visitation Hours will be held at Harrison Funeral Home on Sunday Sept 13 from 2-6pm and the funeral will be at 11:00AM at St Gregory's church in Harrison, burial to follow.

Dear Cousin Albie, That is what we called you! I remember our days in the Bronx. We all lived close to each other then and did get to see each other. I was always happy to see you. What a wonderful family you have. They are all my cousins! Rest in peace with Cousin Ann and the Lord! Heartfelt sympathy to all the family. With Love, Cousin Lorraine Genovese Lloyd

I should have mentioned that our mothers were sister. "Aunt Anna, my mother Betty, Aunt Lucy, and Aunt Terry. They were the Cappella girls!

Mr "D" was like a father to me. He took me to my first John Denver concert- a midnight show at Nassau Colliseum. He and Ann took me along to family Easter celebrations, trips to Long Island and the Jersey Shore. He was an unfailingly kind, gentle man and I will miss him. All of my love to Carol, Donna, and Jimmy. My heart is with you even though I can't be there.
