Harriet “Bunky” Mahoney
Harriet Elizabeth Mahoney was born on August 26, 1929, to John & Florence (Hawk) O’Brien in Ridgefield, CT. Harriet was given the nickname “Bunky” at a young age and it is how most people know her. She grew up in North Salem, NY. She married Lloyd Mahoney on April 4, 1948. They had 2 sons John “Pat” Mahoney (Mahopac, NY) and Michael Mahoney (Naples, FL). They raised their boys in the North Salem area. Harriet was a homemaker and family was very important to her. She was always willing to watch her nieces/nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Harriet was happiest when helping others. Harriet was known for being a friend, caretaker, confidant and a phenomenal cook by her family. Her most requested dishes where her pot roast and beef stew. Harriet liked to give back to her community. She would cook large meals for the North Salem Highway Department whenever there was a big snowstorm that kept the crews working all night. Harriet was a lifetime member of the Croton Falls Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and dedicated many hours to help raise money for this organization.
Harriet was predeceased by her beloved husband Lloyd in 1995. She is survived by her 2 sons. 3 grandchildren, John (Danielle) Mahoney, Justin Mahoney & Shannon (Frank) Gallipani. She is also survived by her 4 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
