Obituary for Gerard M. Gravino

Gerard Michael Gravino from Somers, New York died on December 5, 2019 .He is survived by his wife Drucilla (nee Kaufmann) and his daughters Denise and Janice Gravino, grandchildren Christopher Garrity, Frank Villani and Christina Keller. He is also survived by his brother Julian Gravino (Lynda), his sister Catherine Gravino Matthews (Donald), his sister in laws Diane Britton (Thomas), Deborah Kaufmann and Denise Kaufmann and by his several adoring nieces and nephews.

After graduating All Hallows High School in the Bronx, Gerard attend Lehman College where he majored in Math and minored in psychology. He enjoyed working at Reader's Digest for a number of years as International Systems Manager. In 1988 he graduated from Fordham University with a Master's degree in Social Work and began his second career as an employee and family therapist. In 2003, he opened his own practice as full-time therapist LSCW-R, retiring only two years ago. He was happy to be able to help people with their problems. He was a faithful parishioner at St. James Church in Carmel for many years He also volunteered as a CCD teacher and a Big Brother for some time.

Gerard was born on June 14, 1944 in Yonkers, NY to Anna (nee Lepore) and Angelo Gravino. Throughout his life Gerard enjoyed being active, including playing tennis, skiing, hiking and bicycling. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Dru. Gerard was a loving and devoted, husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, brother in law and uncle. He will be remembered for his compassion, his sense of humor and intelligence by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
