Obituary for Milton Bonilla Sr.

Milton Bonilla Sr., 74, died November 1, 2019, with his family by his bedside in Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, NY.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Balsamo-Cordovano Funeral Home in Carmel, NY from 2:30- 6:30pm. With a military honors ceremony at 5:15, followed by a remembrance service at 5:30.

He was born on July 19, 1945, in Puerto Rico. He is survived by his loving wife, Estela Bonilla, and his two sons, Milton A. Bonilla and Mark Bonilla; his daughter-in-law’s, Victoria and Amanda Bonilla; his grandchildren Aaron, MaryJo, Ava and Jack. He also leaves behind his brothers, Angelo and William, his brothers/sisters-in-laws; as well as his nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and a host of friends.Known as a nice and funny man, he made friends wherever he would go.


A man of many careers, from chef, to photographer, to building manager. He could fish, play cards and domino’s for days. He enjoyed taking long walks; his last pleasure was to sit at the bench in Lake Carmel. Loved to garden, feed wild animals in his backyard and play lotto. A dedicated husband, father and grandfather. A man who had many lives as a cat. Funny, kind, smart, hardworking and genuinely loving.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Wounded Warriors Project in tribute to his years of service as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War.
