Obituary for Louise Geraldine Sassone (Louise Legnini)

Louise Geraldine Sassone (Louise Legnini)
Louise Geraldine Sassone (nee Legnini) was born in the Bronx on August 21st, 1928, and died peacefully at her home in Harrison, New York, surrounded by her family, on August 25th, 2019, at age 91. She was the oldest child and only daughter of Mary and Filideo Legnini and the caring big sister of Camillo (aka Sonny) Legnini, who predeceased her. On October 29, 1949, she wed Ralph J. Sassone, Jr., to whom she remained married for 70 years. She was a truly lovely woman inside and out, whose enduring beauty was matched by a strong and excellent character marked by honesty, generosity, modesty, kindness and courtesy to others, deep devotion to her loved ones, and grace when confronted with illness and the challenges of aging. A faithful wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Ralph; by her five children, Linda Carnevalla (Joseph) and Denise Caligiuri (Anthony) of Harrison, New York; Susan Russo (Emil) of Rye, New York; Ralph Sassone (Peter) of New York, NY; and Steven Sassone (Joanne) of Boca Raton, Florida, as well as six wonderful grandchildren (Lauren, Anthony, Lindsay, Gregory, Mark, and Alexandra) who were the light of her life and four great-grandchildren (Hunter, Ashton, Ella, and Alessandra). Although her family is profoundly saddened by the loss of this quietly extraordinary matriarch, she will remain forever in their memories and deep in their hearts. A memorial visitation will take place at The Harrison Funeral Home, 329 Halstead Avenue, Harrison, NY 10528, on Sunday, September 15th, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Louise’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
