Obituary for Lucile Frattarola (Lucile Petrucelli)

Lucile Frattarola (Lucile Petrucelli)
Lucile Frattarola (nee Petrucelli), 96, of Harrison, NY, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2018, after an illness. Mrs. Frattarola was the widow of the late Duranto Frattarola of Harrison, whom she married during WWII, while Mr. Frattarola was serving in the US Army. They were married for 54 years. Mrs. Frattarola was a homemaker, who raised a family of four children. When her youngest son, Peter, died suddenly, Mrs. Frattarola obtained custody of his son Peter, Jr., and raised him.

Mrs. Frattarola grew up as an only child and was extremely devoted to her mother.
She attended Rye public schools, and she graduated from Rye High School with honors in business. She also completed courses of studies in fashion at The McDowell School, and in business and secretarial practice at the Gaines School, both in Manhattan. After years of study of classical piano, she became a featured pianist on a Westchester radio show. In her younger years, Mrs. Frattarola worked as a bookkeeper in her father’s market in Rye. After having raised her family, she returned to work and remained at ITT Continental Baking Company headquarters for fifteen years.

Known by some as a quiet, private person, Mrs. Frattarola loved being with her family and several close friends and entertaining them in her home. She especially enjoyed family weddings and special occasions and, well into her eighties, she would often surprise everyone by hopping up and joining the crowd on the dance floor. On Sundays and holidays, she lovingly prepared dinners for her family, which often included her signature dish, lasagna with meatballs. She had an engaging smile and a warm, pleasant demeanor, and she always had a complimentary word for everyone she met.

Lucile Dolores Frattarola was born to Frederick and Catherine Petrucelli in Rye, NY. She is survived by sons Robert (Katherine) Frattarola of Yorktown NY, and Donald (Ann) Frattarola of Mamaroneck NY, and daughter June Ann (Gerald) Swartz of Harrison. Her husband, Duranto Frattarola, and a son, Peter, died earlier. She is survived also by 8 grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Katie, James, Amy, Peter, Jr., Jennifer and Amanda and 7 great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
