Obituary for Daniel F. ""Danny"" Amelio

Daniel F. ""Danny""  Amelio
Daniel F. Amelio, 88, a lifelong resident of Harrison, NY, passed away March 24, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 7, 1928 in Harrison to the late Raffaele and Aqualina (Vetere) Amelio. He was raised and educated in Harrison. Dan served his country proudly during WWII as a rifleman and paratrooper in the U.S. Army. His selfless service earned him the following decorations: World War II Victory Ribbon; Army Occupation Ribbon; and American Theater Ribbon. Dan was married February 19, 1966 to Catherine “Kitty” Coppola. Before retirement, he and his brother Bob were partners in the residential building industry in the town of Harrison. Dan was a hard-working and dedicated man who loved helping family in any way he could. He will be forever missed! He was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church, an active member of the Harrison Republican Party, as well as a member of the local chapter of the Department of Veterans Affairs. He is survived by his devoted wife Catherine Amelio of Harrison and his beloved children Ralph Amelio and wife Mary Ann of Old Greenwich, CT, Donata Viglione of Harrison, Anthony Lagonigro and wife Nicola of New York City, and his dear grandchildren who were the pride and joy of his life, Ryan and Kyle Amelio, Michelle Viglione, Shannon Jannone (Mikee), and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Bob Amelio of Harrison and his many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Philomena Patchen, Tosca Pick, Chiconda Sloat, Betty Gianotti, Marge Dreckmann, and brother John Amelio. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dan’s home care providers for their loving dedication. Their kindness will never be forgotten. Visitation will be 4-8PM on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Harrison Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10AM on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at St. Gregory the Great Church, 215 Halstead Avenue, Harrison NY. Entombment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Rye Brook, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Westchester, 1025 Westchester Ave., Suite 200, White Plains, NY 10604.
