Obituary for James F Kiernan

James F. Kiernan was born September 22, 1947, son of James and Grace (Flynn) Kiernan. Together with his two sisters, Grace and Catherine, the family grew up in the Parkchester section of the Bronx.

After graduating Monroe High School, Jim served 4 years in the United States Navy. He met and and married Virginia Verrilli and they had three daughters together Dawn, Megan and Carla.

For 16 years, Jim served as a Westchester County Highway Patrolman. Although his career was cut short, he continued to serve and maintain his presence in the police community.

In 2008, Jim was lucky enough to marry lifelong friend Linda Arlands. Together they shared great memories and adventures including a trip to Alaska, Garth Brooks, scuba diving, music festivals, motorcycling, skiing and more! They shared their home with 6 children and 11 grandchildren.

James touched the lives of many people with his smile, generosity and trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.

He will forever be remembered by his devoted friends, family and co-workers. Whether you called him James, Jimmy, Jim, Dad or Pop Pop, moments spent with him were always memorable.

He enriched the lives of us all in so many ways. As our hearts are heavy, we are also at peace knowing that he will be waiting for us in heaven.
